Prayer For A Beautiful Heart

The importance of keeping a contrite, purified, and consecrated heart.

THE PREAMBLE

I present to you, the Beautiful HEART. This is not the physical heart as we know it. It is the spiritual HEART; the whole frame within us that the Bible refers to as the “innermost part”, the sanctuary of God where the Holy Spirit dwells and where God communicates with us. The Beautiful HEART is the HEART that has been purified and consecrated to God.

One of the lines in Chris Tomlin’s famous Christian song, “Take My Life”, is: “Take my HEART, it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne”. Our HEART is God’s royal throne and needs to be kept purified and consecrated.

The HEART matters to God, as we fellowship and walk with Him. Therefore, the spiritual bill of health of our HEART matters to God. The Psalmist states: “Search me, O God, and know my HEART; test me and know my anxieties and concerns. See if there is any evil [offensive] way in me and lead me in the way everlasting” [Psalm 139: 23-24].

The Bible states: “A good man out of the good treasure of his HEART brings forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his HEART brings forth that which is evil; for of the abundance of his HEART his mouth speaks” [Luke 6: 45].

The Psalmist further emphasises the significance of the status of our HEART in our relationship with God, stating thus in Psalm 51:17: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite HEART; these, O God, You will not despise.”

Our HEART can sometimes become cluttered with the desires of this world, the anxieties, worries, stresses, and the distractions and influences that we experience. Therefore, having our spiritual HEART regularly ‘serviced’ and ‘MOT’d’ is our Christian duty, so our HEART is aligned and fit for the purpose for which God has intended it.

Our HEART is a channel of communication, not only between God and us, but also between God and the wider world. This is what makes us Christ’s disciples, propagating God’s love and grace, and the message of salvation and redemption of our Lord Jesus Christ to the world. Therefore, keeping our HEART clean and consecrated to God is an important part of our daily fellowship and walk with God.

Our God is a God of HEART and mind. Hence, our relationship with God is a matter of HEART and our HEART is at the HEART of the matter.

THE PRAYER

“I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT WITHIN YOU. I WILL TAKE THE HEART OF STONE OUT OF YOUR FLESH AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH” [EZEKIEL 36: 26]

Lord, give me a WATCHFUL heart because a WATCHFUL heart is a PRAYERFUL heart.

Lord, give me a PRAYERFUL heart because a PRAYERFUL heart is a FAITHFUL heart.

Lord, give me a FAITHFUL heart because a FAITHFUL heart is a MINDFUL heart.

[Psalm 26: 3, Hebrew 10: 22-25, Deuteronomy 28: 1-14]

Lord, give me a MINDFUL heart because a MINDFUL heart is a THANKFUL heart. [Thessalonians 5: 18, Colossians 3: 17, Psalms 9:1, Philippians 4: 6]

Lord, give me a THANKFUL heart because a THANKFUL heart is a COMPASSIONATE heart. [John 13: 34-35, John 15: 12, Luke 6: 35]

Lord, give me a COMPASSIONATE heart because a COMPASSIONATE heart is a LOVING heart [Matt 6: 14-15, Ephesians 4: 32, 1 Peter 3: 8]

Lord, give me a LOVING heart because a LOVING heart is a FORGIVING heart.

[Romans 12: 20, 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4, Matt 18: 21-22, 1 John 4: 11]

Lord, give me a FORGIVING heart because a FORGIVING heart is an OBEDIENT heart. [Ephesians 4: 32, Mark 11: 25, Proverbs 25: 21-22, Deuteronomy 28: 1-14]

Lord, give me an OBEDIENT heart because an OBEDIENT heart is a HOLY SPIRIT-FILLED heart. [Acts 2: 1-4, Isaiah 1: 19]

Lord, give me a HOLY SPIRIT-FILLED heart because a HOLY SPIRIT-FILLED heart is a BLESSED heart. [Galatians 5: 22-23, Romans 8: 14, Ephesians 1: 3]

Lord, give me a BLESSED heart because a BLESSED heart is a GRACEFUL heart.

[Matt 5: 16, Numbers 6: 24-26, 2 Corinthians 9: 8]

Lord, give me a GRACEFUL heart because a GRACEFUL heart is a ‘BIG’ heart.

[John 1: 16, 2 Corinthians 9: 8-10, Galatians 6: 2-5]

Lord, give me a ‘BIG’ heart because a BIG heart is a BEAUTIFUL heart.

[Isaiah 52: 7, Romans 10: 14-1, Galatians 6: 2-5, Colossians 3: 16]

Lord, give me a BEAUTIFUL heart because a BEAUTIFUL heart is a FRUITS-OF-THE-HOLY SPIRIT-bearingheart; Full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Against such, there is no law [Galatians 5: 22-23]. “If we live in the Spirit, let us walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another [Galatians 5: 25-26]. May God purify and fulfil the righteous desires of our hearts. AMEN!!!
